Starling side

Well, I was going through the census records for the Starling branch and realized the person I collaborated with is a wrong.....dead wrong....
So, here I am, going to fix it all again. *sigh* Thought I had it fixed from the last person I collaborated with. Guess again! lol
Guess I've learned my lesson and I'm just going to do research myself from now on! LOL

Well, on to fixing the mistakes!

So much has happened!!!

So, tracing all my family has been an interesting rollercoaster. I'd come to roadblocks while searching, so I'd put it on the back burner for a while.
Anyhow, soooo! Exciting news!
I've found a census record from 1905 in New York showing my grandfather, William Marron, and his parents AND all his brothers! I was floored! This is the first time I've come across anything with him in their care. I'm still searching for information as to when his parents passed away. However, June 1, 1905 they were still alive!
I'm looking still into the Johnson side for Bubba's side of the family. It's been a headbanging great time, LOL.

I did find something else interesting on my mother's mother's side of the family. One of her hard to find relatives comes up as being the first born here in the states. Her ancestors were from Ireland!
Well, that's all I've got for now. If I come up with more, I'll post it.

More on the Starling issue.

So, now I'm having to redo the whole Starling tree because I trusted someone to check their facts and not just pull things out of their butt. So tired now, going to have to work on it another day. Probably going to be my project for Wednesday, the night I stay up all night before I have to work my seven nights on at the hospital. *sigh* Wow, this is going to be a pain in the ass.

Well, I'm learning my lesson. Just because someone else posted a tree, it doesn't actually mean it's true!
So, a while back, I'd used someone's tree they'd done up, linking it to mine. Turns out this person must have pulled people out of his butt, because there's a whole freaking century gap in one generation! *sigh* So I'm having to go back through the Starling family tree and redo everything. After I do that, I'm emailing this guy and giving him the correct parental links for the Findagrave site.
Well, I'm sleepy today, I'll have to do more research later, when I'm not as tired. Otherwise I'll make mistakes.

Marrow vs Marron

Well, I'm wondering what my last name is really supposed to be. According to one census record that I've traced, the name was Marrow. I know that with accents and immigration, a lot of the time officials changed names to make them easier to record and pronounce. It makes for an interesting time trying to trace family history down. HAH!
So, I came to this conclusion when I was searching FindaGrave for some of Peter and Sarahs kids and found the oldest boy, Peter's. Under Marrow, not Marron. So since he was the oldest, stands to reason, he'd remember his real last name a little better than the others.
I'm still not certain. Nothing is certain when tracing via old paperwork.
If only I could go back in time to see, you know?

Ollie (Vaughter) Christensen

Excitement!

So, I was doing a routine search on my great-grandparents from my father's side, the elusive Sarah and Peter. Found some interesting things on them! Well, they pop up in a census in 1900 as the Marrows, according to someones handwriting interpretation. Looking at it, it looks like an "n" at the end to me. Has all the same names and approximate birth dates for the boys too.
Anyhow, back on subject here, found a birth record for one of their sons in New York! The birth date was right, too! Also, found another listing for a girl child, Ann. I know that only the boys survived to adulthood, but I wonder if maybe this Ann is a child that died when she was young. Possible for that day and age. It's kind of exciting!
As for the 1900 census, I looked closely and noticed that they also list how long they've been married and how many years they've been in the United States. Very very exciting!
I just wish I could look up the actual census record for the Johnsons on Bubba's side. All I have to see is the typed up version. So I don't have any more info than what the people that were inputting the data deemed necessary. Oh well, maybe I'll eventually get to see it, if they post it online.

So, I've found a marriage record for C.C.Johnson and M.M.Mayes in 1872, which is about the year they would have been married. I wish they'd had their full names recorded, but nope. *sigh*
Anyhow, C.C. and M.M. are Bubba's GreatgreatgreatGrandparents. It's been a pain on tracking them down. Seems they were born in Tennessee, but moved to Texas. The mother, M.M., must have passed away, because I've traced C.C.Johnson to being married to one Francis F in 1900. According to the census, they'd been married for 9 years. In that time they'd had 2 more boys. In his marriage with MM, they had 2 boys, one girl. I've been able to trace the girl, because the sons of Marion(Murry, whatever he went by) lived with her and her husband when their parents passed away.
Still can't find death certificates on any of the Johnsons from the past here in Texas. Maybe I'll have to actually go down to the Texas State Library, hehe. I guess, when Bubba and I have off that week together, maybe I'll get him to watch Caitlin while I go digging. Hopefully I'll find something!

Villarreal Family

This is Bubba's Grandmother's side of the family. I have the names written down somewhere, but I've misplaced the sheet! Guess I'll have to get her to tell me the names of everyone again so I can post it on here.

My grandfather, Nevin Christensen, is the one in the middle. I can't remember his rank in this particular photo, but I do know he was flying for the Skyblazers over in Germany.

Frustration

Well, I've been trying to trace down my father's side of the family and it's a pain it the butt on his father's side. I've gotten to the point where I want to bang my head against the table.
See, the way it goes, William Marron is the son of Peter Marron and Sarah Kennedy. I've traced to them, but it's a pain going back from there. Peter and Sarah are just too common a name in Ireland. I did find a lot of stuff on FamilySearch.org, but wish they'd have more on there. I also wish that freaking Ancestry.com didn't charge for everything. Man they have so much access and don't share crap.....ya ya ya, I know, how else would they make their money? Wish I could afford them, just can't right now. Oh well, I guess I'll have to be a little more patient with the FamilySearch people and with Footnote, which is ok, but same thing as Ancestry, they charge. At least they give sneak peeks though, which helps, but their database isn't nearly as extensive as Ancestry.
Unless, anyone willing to pay for Ancestry.com subscription for me? LOL
The other frustration is Bubba's mother's father's father's father's side....so his Great great Grandfather. He has a unique name first name, but a common last name and it's hard to trace his side down. Seems the census taker for his neighborhood didn't like to write first names of the parents down and it just frustrates the heck out of me. C. Johnson.....born in 1850 in Tennessee.....wow there's a boatload of them. So, another bang head on table experience there. LOL
ANYHOW, so that's where I'm at right now.
Anyone know of anyplace free I can look up family history stuff besides FamilySearch.org, Footnote.com, and Findagrave.com? Or you have information or photos to pass along to me so I can add them to my huge freaking tree I got going? Email me!
